Hi! I’m decol and welcome to my blog!

Things you should know about being here:

(if you saw a post you like please know my tipping/donation info at the bottom of this post!)

  • I’m an adult and post like it.
  • My focus is on solidarity, mutual aid, and making the revolution accessible and intersectional.
  • I mostly post/reblog stuff about human rights (ex: BIPOC sovereignty & LGBT rights) along with hating capitalism, calling out white supremacy, art, nature stuff, space photos, & support/resources.
  • My asks are always open & when asked in good faith I’m happy to answer pretty much anything.
  • I freely use the delete/block so don’t waste your time writing hateful paragraphs.
  • I also use the hateful and bigoted asks that I do publish as teachable moments, most often for recognizing bad faith arguments and dog-whistles. You won’t find any needless and unnecessary hate posted on my blog.
image

That said, my blog has an overall content warning for pretty much everything because of the kind of content I post. Education on oppression unfortunately includes the human horrors we never want repeated. I do tag ableism and very graphic posts tho.

  • There’s a lot of possibly triggering stuff to come across so I dont feel obligated or inclined to tag every post.
  • But the topic or image is bad enough then I’ll tag it and I use a catch-all tag (as in abuse, gore, racism, antisemitism, etc are all included here) to make things easier for myself.
  • That tag is: decolstw
  • Ableism tags will be specific. They’ll be tagged as flashing, strobing, unreality, etc. Not just tagged simply as ableism.

So yeah, that’s what you can expect here.

Follow at your own discretion~

But enough about my blog ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

I’m decol and I really like painting (though I’ve never shared any here), space, nature, & radicalizing a generation one blog at a time.

My hobbies include herb gardening, beading, processing my trauma through horror fiction writing, taking my family out places, romanticizing the mundane, and stealing a chocolate from every new store I visit <3

I post a lot about oppression here but joy is equally important and I want y'all to know I make time for that and so should you.

sometimes I wish that every article naming how much a public service would cost (or how much it would cost to repair needed infrastructure for the service or to make the service more accessible to disabled people and poor people) would explain that number in terms of how much time it takes a billionaire to earn that much.

like “it would cost $8.6 million (or, a little under one hour of Bezos’s earnings) to build a new public library building in this area which would serve 45 thousand people.”

money is literally a social and political representation of how we are choosing to allocate resources. I wish these direct comparisons were made so people who haven’t yet made the connection might at least start asking “huh… why should we allocate these resources to one person to do nothing with them instead of to 45 thousand people in the form of an essential service? why do we allocate this amount of resources to this one person every single hour of every single day but it’s unthinkable to provide it to tens of thousands of people just once? why are tens of thousands of people (of which I am one), all of us collectively, less valuable than this one guy?”

Zuckerberg, the seventh on the Richest List, makes that in a day.

Elon, failing as he is, makes $637,000,000/hr.

It would take him 49 seconds to fund the library.

I’ve seen a few ~aesthetic~ photos of rock stacks in rivers recently and this is just a reminder that you are destroying habitat when you move rocks around in rivers and streams.

In addition to dragonfly nymphs, rocky river beds are home to lots of other larval invertebrates like damselflies, mayflies, water beetles, caddisflies, stoneflies, and a bunch of dipterans. Not to mention lots of fish and amphibians!

Plus large scale rock stacking can change the flow of a stream and lead to increased erosion.

Anyway dragonfly for admiration:

unfortunately I’m watching supernatural and someone on screen said ‘there are No Wolves in pennsylvania’ and I was like. what a bold incorrect statement. where did they possibly get that idea from. so I googled it…google is insisting there are no wild wolves in pa?? except I’ve Seen wolves here?? there used to be a wolf that would hang out in my backyard and roam around the neighborhood?? like Everyone knew about this wolf we assumed he lived on the golf course and would come to our yards if he got spooked by golfers (very quiet block). like we all thought he just lost his pack or whatever so people just gave him a wide space and let him chill, he didn’t try to break into any houses or attack any pets but this was definitely. a wild wolf. where. where did he come from what do you MEAN there aren’t wolves in pennsylvania I’m literally spiraling right now

still feeling so gut-punched over this

To be fair, PA also said “we did not reintroduce mountain lions, they are not there, you’re seeing really big house cats, please keep coming to the parks and camp sites and ignore that video, that was totally not a mountain lion, someone took last week”

image

okay I’m sorry but this came up on pinterest and I Screamed

you are the state of Pennsylvania (allegedly)

i just showed this to a friend from pennsylvania and 1. theyre losing their mind bc theyve seen mountain lions which prompted them to look it up which leads me to 2. this fucking bonkers article

[caption: “We’ve been here 45 years and I’ve probably been told by people at least 100 t imes that they’ve seen a cougar or mountain lion,” said owner Vince Hall. “I kind of doubt they saw a cougar, but I’m not God.”]

PA: I can’t believe we’ve lost all our native apex predators
Citizens of PA: there’s a mountain lion right there
PA: sometimes we can still hear the sound of them scaring away tourists

…PA has fucking EMUS and you want me to believe we have no wolves or mountain lions?

what the fuck do you mean we have emus

Guys, I’ve cracked it

This thing goes all the way to the top

what the fuck is happening in pennsylvania

As a regretful born and raised Pennsylvanian, we have wolves, coywolves, mountain lions, lynx, and coyotes. Not a single person in authority will admit to there being anything but coyotes and lynx. If you see a cougar, they will tell you you saw a lynx. If you see a wolf, they will tell you you saw a coyote. Ignore the massive differences in sizes. No one knows what a coywolf is but we have them. I have seen a cougar with my own two goddamned eyes. There is an entire nature park whose main attractions are the cougars and wolves (and bison but we’re not talking about them) - it’s called Penn’s Cave, it’s been there forever. Everyone I know has seen a cougar or wolf at least once in the woods.

So what I’m getting at is don’t trust the government.

“the state of Pennsylvania is gaslighting its citizens about the native wildlife”

My spouse was born in PA (Bethlehem, Mt Sinai) and he is enjoying this entire thread, which we might show his cousins who live in Philly and have seen the These Aren’t Cougars.

The tags on my whiteness post said to me that white people (at least those that are racially aware) and colonized natives perhaps have more in common than most people think. Or at least more than they talk about it in public.

Not that they’re the same. Misogyny and transphobia are not the same, but they are both veins of oppression in a patriarchy. Similar.

In the same way, that empty hollowness white ppl feel where your culture should be is not unlike what I feel as a native, from what I’ve read of your accounts. Learning your ancestors chose whiteness and safety and comfort over culture and identity. That now you have nothing because of the colonization and assimilation your grandparents experienced when they got to the USA. Because of whiteness. Because of the power it has even just as a concept in the US.

We experience these for much different reasons and at least your loss bought you privilege.

… but they aren’t total opposites either. A hollowness where you know rich history used to be? Having culture but feeling a disconnect where you know More used to be? Feeling like you only have scraps of the culture your family used to have? Clinging to what you can get your hands on? Feeling like it’s so detached that it’s not really yours?

I get that and I bet I’m not the only one.

The USA’s habit for white supremacy, racism, and colonization hurt all of us.

And it will benefit all of us to discard the systems those things built. They’re still there and still hurting every one of us.

We can build a future that benefits us all instead as soon as we all start working on that together.

But we can’t do that if some of us refuse to admit the system is what’s hurting us. If we refuse to acknowledge that even with perfect politicians our Systems would still prevent progress because they are built on outdated and white supremacist ideals we’ll just continue to suffer together under those systems instead.

We can’t keep attacking each other just because some of us refuse to look at the ideologies fueling our current reality.

#i always frame the journey my ancestors took to whiteness (conditional or otherwise) as a deal with the fucking devil#you feel it the most as a jewish person but it’s a conversation i’ve had a lot with my irish-irish friends about my irish half#how irish-americans paid for their whiteness by becoming the enforcers of white supremacy (i.e. police)#and honestly i see a lot of parallels in this same vein between diasporic jews and indigenous people#the erasure of language and pressure to assimilate#being constantly displaced and/or murdered because we were inconvenient or someone felt entitled to what little we had#being cast as a scapegoat or some other unifying enemy for those trying to consolidate power#the goalposts that move from ‘if you convert you’re our equal’ to 'actually you’re just bad by birth bc you’re part of these people’#so yeah op this is a really lovely statement of solidarity#right back at you

Oof. It is nice to feel seen.

My Slovak grandfather who refused to teach his children anything about Slovak culture or language, because he saw how his parents struggled as immigrants. He explicitly told his kids to assimilate, and they did.

I had native person (a teacher) demand I identify my nationality/ethnicity without using the name of the country I live in - because using the name of my country felt like violence to her - and then I had no meaningful identity at all.

There’s a list of white people places my “ancestors” came from, but I have no actual connections to those disparate places.

At my niece’s elementary Christmas party, everyone was supposed to bring a traditional dish from their heritage. Multiple families brought store bought mini sausage rolls. Few brought anything that was genuine. Because they couldn’t. There is no traditional dish. No one has a connection to their heritage, so they grab a “british” seeming thing, and call it a day.

I feel like a dandelion seed- blown far away from the flower.

Hey yall, I’m Decol and I’m Very poor and need help, please

My trans gf works full time but huge expenses like trips are just not in our budget so I typically come to Tumblr for help with those kinds of things, we had to take my kid to her dad’s for summer.

We’re also picking them up in just under a week which will end up being right before rent is due for August. It’s across a few states so it’s not cheap, but regardless she needs to come back for school.

Any help is absolutely appreciated.

Jul 19: We paid rent! So I’ve edited that out of the post since it’s no longer a need. Thank you!!!!!

Now we just need help with gas money and food money since my food stamps weren’t loaded on the 18th like they should’ve been.

Last time food stamps took like two weeks to get ahold of so if we could get enough for two weeks and some gas money to grab my kid that’d be absolutely amazing 🙏

Looking like a really good pied Piper candidate if he hasn’t already been selected as one… Let’s see if Dems jump on this and start “criticizing” him or being “worried” about him winning.

He has no chance. None. Unless Dems platform him a ton like they did with Trump and have him on the news 24/7 for saying awful things.
